To view this site properly and access the spreadsheets and family tree charts, you will need Adobe Reader  installed on your computer - use the above link to download the latest FREE version of this application. If viewing on a mobile device, the standard view works best - though some of the images may be rotated, sorry I have not been able to overcome this problem.

The current banner shows Alnwick Castle, in Northumberland - a county in the far north east of England, bordering Scotland.  This region is home to a number of Appleby lines - and our DNA project has confirmed genetic connections between several of these, which also match lines in Canada, USA and Ireland.

PLEASE NOTE: if you are viewing this site on an Apple device running IOS 13, you may experience problems with page layout, over-lapping text, etc.  Hopefully, Apple will resolve these issues very soon,

(Meanwhile, I suggest you switch to a PC!)

How to become a member of our Appleby Mailing List

If you have Applebys in your family tree, why not join our Mailing List and make sure that you hear about the latest news and developments?

Membership is free and is open to all Appleby researchers, wherever you live in the world.

Just complete our CONTACT FORM to ensure that you receive our occasional mailings (usually less than three a year).

For us to do this, it is important that you tell us on the form if you fit into an Appleby family tree that is already included on this website (see this page for a current list of trees and a name Index).

If your Appleby family tree is not yet included, or if you cannot identify your family tree on the site, please provide the name of the most distant known Appleby in your family tree, along with an approximate date of birth and where he or she lived, and then tell us how you are related to this person.

I am afraid I can no longer offer to research new trees for inclusion on the website ... there is already a huge backlog and I have an ongoing health issue, but will endeavour to keep the website going as long as possible.

Please note - by indicating on the Contact Form that you request to join our Mailing List, you are agreeing to be added to our Mailing List on Mail Chimp.  You can of course unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the link which will appear at the bottom of every mailing.
